  • Bryn also runs his own festival in Faenol which takes place on August Bank Holiday weekend. The festival has established a huge following, and this year guest artists included Andrea Bocelli, Van Morrison, Alison Moyet, Aled Jones, Katherine Jenkins and Catrin Finch.     
  • Bryn’s appearance on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs revealed his love of Elvis as part of his wide-ranging musical taste.  
  • In 2006 Bryn was named winner of the Shakespeare Prize, which honours outstanding contributions to European Cultural Heritage. The jury singled out Terfel as one of the most extraordinary bass-baritones of our time – a performer whose sweeping voice, natural stage presence, and unique personality are “writing music history”. Past winners include Graham Greene, Sir Simon Rattle, Richard Attenborough, and Matthew Bourne.
  • In an award-winning year for Bryn, he was also honoured with the Queen’s Medal for Music in July 2006. He is only the second person to be given this prize.
